Weekly Horoscope -Holiday Edition
This week's horoscope is brought to you by "Astroboy" again
your guide to the stars, Astroboy, says:
"Greetings! Wow, what a week that was. I didn’t think I would survive. 14-hour days at work, 6 hours of sleep a night, I adopted a new kitten and engaged in feline warfare-relations (as the old master of the house defended his territory) and of course the solstice. Personally, I hate summer. It’s hot, muggy, dreadful - blech! I’d rather be in the southern hemisphere right now, enjoying cold and snow, as the deities intended for civilized creatures. But summer it is, and with it the 4th of July! Will your future shine like fireworks, will you be holding your own continental congress, or declaring your state of independence? Interestingly enough, most freedom must be gained through war and violence, and most of these movies deal with that very heinous reality…
The prevailing theme lately seems to be that of planetary alignments: oppositions, squares, trines and conjunctions. Imagine the wars the gods must have fought in their day- today we watch them do it all over again: bloody, gory tales of war written in the sky. It is easier to blame those conflicts on others rather than take responsibility for our actions. Do you look to the heavens for guidance, or as an excuse? Find areas of your life that need attention. Make a list of the norms in your life, the prevailing attitudes. Then focus on those that don’t make you happy. This past week's new moon is the seed time -- we are all infused with new vitality. Let yourself grow upward, as the moon is growing out. This is a natural time to start new cycles and undertake new challenges. You’ll be on the road to a better you, and a better life. "
Weekly Horoscope
June 30th -July 7th The 4th of July Edition
Aries (3.21-4.19)
You started this week feeling as though you were pushing a boulder up a mountain, but now the job is easier. It may be that colleagues and friends are now aware of their particular roles and performing them --the team finally forming. You found yourself fighting both sides, like the first all-black volunteer company in the civil war (Glory, 1989). The chain of command doesn’t always work like you’d like it to- watch out for a Water baby (Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces) to fall behind the batallion. But if you help them up, they will surprise you with their heroism by the end of the week. On Sunday, someone is trying to be noticed: pay strict attention. As the week begins, notice they also have a point of view, and it may be different from yours! Let the puzzle (of which you are only one piece, Ram) fall into place.
Taurus (4.20-5.20)
Did you find yourself floundering because others are either incoherent or plain confused (mostly about $$)? You feel disoriented and touchy: a Gemini friend could add to the chaos yet offer perceptive comment. By mid week, you'll barely have to make any decisions whatsoever- charisma and magnetism decide everything. Do you feel a bit like our nation’s father (George Washington, 1984)? This man never cut corners, though you may feel so inclined. It’s your perfectionism that will earn you a reputation for courage, competence, and cool-headedness, whether you win the battle or not. All wars are roller coasters. Next week, not much will have changed, except your attitude. And what joy it is to see you at the helm of command- even if only over the most boring tasks at work. Believe in your ability to conquer.
Gemini (5.21-6.20)
You and your friends are happy, garrulous, and driven but Friday may have been a bit dull. That’s a good thing for you- you need to watch your money right now (especially if you planned that vacation I suggested last week). Don’t spend it trying to understand something you’re not meant to. It will take considerable grit and determination to sort this out since communication is challenged: family, friends, email… even figuring out where to each lunch will be hard! Remember: you don’t need words to be heard. Remember Lionel Barrymore (America, 1924)? Way before the talkies, he had made a name for himself and was an actor, composer, artist, author and director. He even invented the boom microphone!! He found many ways of sharing his voice and you can too. Share a project with someone and communicate trust: if they take it as a compliment, everyone wins!
Cancer (6.21-7.22)
The sun might not be shining on you as completely as you'd hoped. Despite good fun these are not great days to plan on a job well done. You’re either doing different things, or doing things differently. Which one will it be? Strike a deal with yourself: don’t do both. Or you’ll find yourself in the shoes of Robert Goldstein (The Sprit of ’76, 1917). In his film, he chose to show the atrocities of war commited by the British, even though being warned against it by the government. He went to jail for three years and spent at least 15 abroad: begging the Academy to give him a job. I repeat: you will NOT find yourself in this situation!! The sensitive part of you will fight you when it’s time to run from the clarity of the sun, and keep your emotions hidden from certain people, in the dim moonlight.
Leo (7.23-8.22)
I said you’d be getting a lecture next week: here it is. Friday, the Sun and Jupiter form one of the three more spectacular aspects of their annual cycle. In 2006, this accentuates issues connected to your home, property, resources and emotional base. Friday could be a key day. This is the day where deals are struck and agreements are reached. Think of Chief Joseph Brandt and his alliance with the British during the American Revolution (The Broken Chain, 1993). Your heart is at the center of your life this week, and it takes heart to emit warmth and radiance. I want you to listen to others, understand them, forge friendships. The Chief himself said: “With my people, our mothers have taught us to bring into our home those we capture. Bring them into our lives, have them come as one into our nations, share our home fires”. As his grandmother counseled: “But you must be careful not to become so fond of their ways that you forget who and what you are”. Shine brightly lion!
Virgo (8.23-9.22)
Time to finish what you started. Friday is your deadline, but the race to achieve it brings out the best in you. You’ve had this milestone for way too long. Run there, and then celebrate! You helped raise the flag at Iwo Jima (The Sands of Iwo Jima, 1949), you survived, and lived to tell the story (and for the original men who raised that flag, they lived to play themselves in the film!) You have everyone’s email addresses, and you have the social capital to make things happen. You’re the one to organize this get-together. Being the center of the social orbit is not easy, but it sure is a hell of a lot of fun. Watch out though. Someone of one of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius) is going to throw you in the pool come next week. They’re going to ask what you’re going to do next. You may not have got that far in your thinking. That’s ok: belly flop, make a lot of waves, splash around. This feeling of immersion is utterly joyful.
Libra (9.23-10.22)
Last Sunday's New Moon is the annual one at the top of your solar chart and, as usual, it highlights the need for a fresh approach to your career and objectives. It’s your turn to make a list and to leave it in prominent position. You’ve been having it pretty good, but get over yourself! You should work on a fresh start since nothing could be better in your life right now. Get caught up in your own revolution, like Johnny Tremain (Johnny Tremain, 1957). While you have much to be arrogant and conceited about, don’t get blown off-course by your own hot air. This is the time to scout out the horizon and dream big. And most importantly, put all those ideas into action with work. Your tirelessness is an amazing quality, but let yourself sleep in a bit. Who would have thought those little colonies would fight and become a great nation?
Scorpio (10.23-11.21)
The impetus for new beginnings might not have arrive for you as with other signs. It likely took the combined efforts of Water and Earth sign people to get things moving midweek. With the Sun trining Jupiter in your sign on Friday it's probable that you'll receive credit for ensuring that a project goes to plan - and possibly, some sort of (financial) recognition. Add to that the fact that you will do something that makes someone display the most beautiful smile you've ever seen. Soon it will be even harder to make decisions than it usually is for you. You may have to give in to someone else, even if it involves admitting a small amount of defeat. After Friday’s victory, you may not be having a great follow-up the first couple of days of the week, like Pacino after Scarface (Revolution, 1985). But don’t nominate yourself for any razzies, nor escape to the stage in shame for weeks to come. You’ll be shining again soon enough.
Sagittarius (11.22-12.21)
Though known as one of the more versatile and amenable signs of the zodiac, there are times when determination to the point of fixation gets the upper-hand. This week, this trait could show. You could go broke as you push an idea forward. Thankfully, a happy conclusion to another drama is almost behind you - (though you may be asked to keep the solution a secret between you and someone close). Can you keep it? Or are you more of a Benedict Arnold (Benedict Arnold, 2003). It's no one's fault. Your energies are just mismatched. You proceed through the world with a certain distinct personality and style, and many do not understand. You contend with struggles of the usual sort: people! You’re loved by those you work with, socialize with, and those who barely know you. But will you use this social power towards the greater good?
Capricorn (12.22-1.19)
Those close to may be driving you into accepting a new adventure. Part of you might be very happy about this - especially if it seems that you'll be putting down better roots as you’ve been wanting to. Another part might feel decidedly unsafe. Just like Washington crossing the Delaware (The Crossing, 2000), you’re coming out of a tricky situation but you will emerge victorious- beyond your wildest dreams. It’s nothing you can’t handle: this is Christmas 1776. Reality is not nearly as fraught as you might think, and you may actually have fun dealing with the challenges. Sometime this weekend, ringing someone you miss terribly is a fantastic idea.
Aquarius (1.20-2.18)
Take a fresh approach to your general routine. Arranging a health check-up, adjusting diet and even stream-lining working practices might all be on you agenda. You may harbour misgivings as to whether you'll reach a target (say, a march to Concord?), but so did those who shot the shot that was heard around the world (April Morning, 1988). By now, you might not only have managed to do that, you could also have pulled off a coup. Those born under Gemini and Sagittarius might be amazed with you! The spirit of the holiday may make you feel more grounded than any air sign would ever hope for. Begin the week with a mind blowing conversation with a brand-new friend. Deepen this newfound friendship by confessing something personal, and see what kind of response you get. The person you connect with most deeply isn't whom you expect it to be. Many amazing things in history have very humble beginnings. Chemistry is a funny thing.
Pisces (2.19-3.20)
Last Sunday's new moon falls in the speculative and fun area of your solar chart. Usually this might mean you'd be ready for a flutter - of the heart or of cash. You might not be ready for either. This is not the right time, and neither was it for Martin and Magdalena (Drums Along the Mohawk, 1939). That didn’t stop them from fighting though. Indeed, with the fabulous aspect forming on Friday, you might prefer to enjoy a 'delayed' New Moon and, over the weekend, celebrate the ending of a painful chapter and the opening of another where the possibilities are immediately apparent. Every impulse to be critical should be ignored. Be the friend you want to have in others. And if you feel the rhythmic beat of more than friendship, follow the slow and steady metronome that wins the war.
